Patriarchs & Matriarchs- Gratitude Day 3

As I reflect on my own faith walk this morning, I can't help but see the strategic placement of men and women of strong faith coming alongside me at various points in my life. Some were responsible for giving me a sense of belonging and pulled me out of my pit; others provided a shoulder when I walked through some of my darkest moments; and others encouraged me, prayed over me, and provided so much daily wisdom and guidance.

Patriarchs and Matriarchs. Fathers and Mothers of the faith. These are who I am so grateful for this day. Those men and women that walked out the words they spoke. Those men and women who displayed relentless hope in Christ, faith without waivering in the midst of their own battles.

Hebrews 11 suggests that "...faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained good testimony". Faith is affirmed to others through actions and words and thus creates your testimony. The entire chapter of Hebrews 11 describes those who have gone before us and walked out their faith.

Perhaps today is a good day to consider your faith journey and identify the patriarchs and matriarchs in your journey. Seek them out and say "thank you", with a text, note or phone call. And thank the Lord that He sent them to cross your path.
